Highmark BCBS, Bridges Health Partners ink 3-year, value-based contract

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and Bridges Health Partners have signed a three-year, value-based agreement for Highmark's Medicare Advantage members in western Pennsylvania.

The agreement was developed for more than a year with Bridges and is part of Highmark's broader strategy to shift toward value-based payment models with providers, according to a July 25 news release.

The agreement supports the creation of a joint care management team that will use data insights to manage member care, educate members on preventive care, find gaps in member care, provide care that increases quality and lowers costs, and integrate inpatient and outpatient care teams.

Founded in 2017, Bridges Health Partners is a regional network of over 1,000 physicians from Pennsylvania organizations that include Butler Health System, Excela Health in Greensburg, St. Clair Health in Pittsburgh and Washington Health System.
