Highmark adds pair of platforms to wellness, behavioral services

Highmark is offering members two new virtual platforms for musculoskeletal pain and alcohol use disorder

The payer is launching Well360 Motion, a Sword Health-powered musculoskeletal care platform, for members in employer-sponsored plans.

The move aims to cut down on musculoskeletal-related disease spending, which outpaces cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes or maternity care spending among Highmark employer-sponsored members.

The Well360 Motion platform provides members with wearable devices and a paired tablet that allows them to receive guided movement feedback and exercise guidance in real time. Sword Health solutions like Well360 Motion have led to a 64 percent reduction in surgery and 70 percent reduction in pain.

Highmark is also adding alcohol use disorder recovery platform Tempest to its member offerings.

The platform uses therapy, psychology, mindfulness and on-call professionals to drive member alcohol recovery. Tempest has historically reduced typical drinks consumed a day by 66 percent and led to a 25 percent reduction in anxiety and depression.
