The health system and insurer faced an October 1 contract expiration. The two sides reached a new multi-year agreement Sept. 30, according to a statement from the two organizations.
The contract negotiations affected commercial, Medicare Advantage and individual Florida Blue members.The negotiations included Baptist Health, Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center and Wolfson Children’s Hospital.
“We are pleased that our new agreement will limit disruption and bring peace of mind to many individuals and families in the Jacksonville community,” Baptist Health and Florida Blue said in a statement.
Contract negotiation disputes between payers and providers that were reported in the media increased 69% between 2022 and 2023, according to data from FTI Consulting.
