CVS, Rush to collaborate on care in Chicago-area MinuteClinics

CVS Accountable Care Organization and Chicago-based Rush University System for Health are collaborating on ACO REACH participation for Medicare members in the Chicago area.

ACO REACH is a shared-savings model from CMS designed to reach underserved communities. A total of 132 organizations will participate in the model for 2023, caring for around 2.1 million Medicare enrollees.

Patients who visit ACO REACH-participating CVS MinuteClinic locations in Chicago and Evanston will be able "to access care with Rush and other ACO REACH entities for follow-up primary and specialty care," according to a Jan. 23 news release shared with Becker's.

"Our strategic alignment with RUSH has the potential to help improve longitudinal care for their Medicare population of 35,000 beneficiaries," CVS Accountable Care Organization CEO Mohamed Diab said.

Mr. Diab noted that the collaboration will help expand virtual and in-person services at MinuteClinic and HealthHUB locations.

As of Nov. 2, CVS/Aetna provides coverage to 3.3 million Medicare Advantage members nationwide. It also provides coverage to 1.3 million people through supplemental plans.
