Connecticut will continue contracting with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Quantum Health to administer the state’s employee health plan and municipal partnership plan, which together cover more than 250,000 state and municipal workers, retirees and their dependents.

Under the new agreement, Anthem will continue providing medical claims administration and will reestablish utilization management services. Quantum Health will continue delivering member advocacy services and administering the health enhancement program, according to a Feb. 18 news release.

New to the contract, Ameriben, Anthem’s third-party administrator platform, will oversee medical claims administration. The state expects the combined initiatives to save at least $8 million over three years.
