Cigna, Valley Children's split

Cigna is out of network with some of Madera, Calif.-based Valley Children's Healthcare's facilities.

As of Aug. 15, Cigna is no longer in network with Valley Children's Hospital and two of the system's care centers, according to Valley Children's website. Several of the systems' primary care clinics and specialty clinics will remain in-network with Cigna until Oct. 9.

"We are working diligently with Cigna to ensure our patients receive full transition of care," the system wrote on its website.

Valley Children's operates a 358-bed hospital, five primary care clinics and several specialty clinics.

"We are disappointed that Valley Children's has chosen to leave our network rather than work with us to keep healthcare affordable for the families we jointly serve," a Cigna Healthcare spokesperson said in a statement to Becker's. "We are committed to ensuring that customers already undergoing urgent/time-sensitive treatment at Valley Children's, or those who urgently need a specific service at Valley Children's, will be able to get treated there."
