Cigna, Phoenix Children's contract down to final months amid dispute

Phoenix Children's Hospital will go out of network with Cigna if the sides are unable to reach a new contract by Feb. 1, the Phoenix Business Journal reported Dec. 2.

Cigna told the news outlet that Phoenix Children's is seeking a double-digit rate increase "that will make healthcare unaffordable to the people we serve."

Phoenix Children's CEO Bob Meyer, meanwhile, told the outlet the health system is "committed to ongoing discussions with Cigna to develop an agreement that allows us to continue to provide the highest level of care for patient families today and into the future."

Mr. Meyer said Phoenix Children's is Arizona's only comprehensive pediatric health system.
