The new contract runs through 2026, according to the report. The two sides had been negotiating a new contract since May. MUSC sent a letter to Cigna patients that the system would go out of network with the payer if a new deal was not reached by Nov. 30.
Cigna patients represent 1.9% of the health system’s total charges and 3.8% of its payments, an MUSC spokesperson told the outlet.
