Cigna, MUSC strike new deal

Charleston, S.C.-based MUSC Health and Cigna have reached a new contract agreement just weeks before their contract was set to expire, The Post and Courier reported Nov. 14.

The new contract runs through 2026, according to the report. The two sides had been negotiating a new contract since May. MUSC sent a letter to Cigna patients that the system would go out of network with the payer if a new deal was not reached by Nov. 30.

Cigna patients represent 1.9% of the health system's total charges and 3.8% of its payments, an MUSC spokesperson told the outlet.
