The agreement comes as several Maine providers have clashed with Anthem over new contracts this year. Portland-based Maine Medical Center said in April it is leaving Anthem’s provider network in January. Also, Portland-based Fore River Urology said in May it is terminating its contract with Anthem in two phases beginning Aug. 1.
Scarborough, Maine-based Coastal Women’s Healthcare also announced plans to drop Anthem, but the sides were later able to agree on a new contract.
