BCBS, Memorial Hermann reach deal to keep 100,000 members in-network

BlueCross BlueShield of Texas and Houston-based Memorial Hermann said March 11 they reached a new agreement to keep 100,000 members in-network.

The two parties initially severed their contract March 1, after failing to reach an agreement. The parties had been negotiating since November 2021, when Memorial Hermann notified the payer of its intent to end the contract.

"We are pleased to share that Memorial Hermann has reached an agreement to continue our relationship with BlueCross BlueShield of Texas, maintaining the integrity of both our health system and our clinically integrated physician network, so we can continue serving our patients with exceptional, high-quality, affordable healthcare," Memorial Hermann said in a post to its website.

With the new agreement, members of BCBS of Texas will have in-network access to Memorial Hermann's hospitals, facilities and affiliated providers.
