Representatives from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Columbia-based University of Missouri Health Care testified before a state committee on June 30 regarding a disagreement over reimbursement rates.

Since April, MU Health Care’s physicians and facilities have been out of network with Anthem’s commercial and Medicare Advantage plans, affecting around 90,000 people. The state’s health plan for public employees is also administered by Anthem.

Committee hearings about provider-payer contract disputes are not common, and the two sides are not close to a deal, according to the Missouri Independent.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
