Anthem Blue Cross and Montage Health’s Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (Calif.) have established an agreement Jan. 26, just ahead of their end-of-month contract deadline, both organizations confirmed in a news release shared with Becker’s.

The agreement keeps members in HMO, EPO and PPO health plans in network.

“This agreement reflects Anthem and Montage’s unified approach to improving affordability while meeting the healthcare needs of local families and employers in Monterey County,” Anthem Blue Cross President Beth Andersen said. “We look forward to strengthening our partnership and working together on solutions to address the region’s most pressing healthcare challenges.”

All Montage Health services in Monterey County are also protected under the agreement, the release said. Previously, Montage said Anthem sent termination notices to some providers at Montage Medical Group, Montage Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Center, and Montage Urgent Care.

“We are grateful we reached an agreement that keeps our community’s care moving forward without interruption,” Montage Health CFO Alicia Maitland said. “It reinforces the trust our patients place in us and helps ensure we can continue providing the reliable, high-quality care they deserve.”
