Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Wisconsin and Wausau-based Aspirus Network have signed a new contract to maintain in-network access, CBS affiliate WSAW reported Nov. 23.
The two organizations would have gone out of network with each other by Dec. 31 without a new contract. Aspirus operates 17 hospitals across Wisconsin and Michigan, along with 75 clinics. The system terminated its contract with Anthem to prevent auto-renewal and had been negotiating with the payer since June.
"We're pleased to have worked in good faith with Aspirus to ensure those covered by individual and employer-based plans, as well as those we serve in Medicaid and Medicare, can continue to access the care they need," BCBS President Paul Nobile told the news station.
