Aetna and Seattle-based UW Medicine facilities and physicians went out of network on June 1.

Aetna’s commercial and Medicare Advantage members have lost in-network coverage at UW because no contract agreement was reached. There will be no impact to provider access or out-of-pocket costs for Boeing retirees who are members of Aetna’s PPO ESA Medicare Advantage plan.

UW’s Harborview Medical Center; UW Medical Center – Northwest; UW Medical Center – Montlake; UW Medicine Primary Care; UW Physicians, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center; and Valley Medical Center are all affected.

The health system notified about 53,000 people who received care from UW within the last two years about the network split, the Seattle Times reported.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
