Aetna strikes deal with Illinois system

Aetna and Springfield, Ill.-based Hospital Sisters Health System have reached a tentative agreement, avoiding a contract termination that was set to take effect July 1.

The agreement between HSHS and Aetna includes all nine of the system’s Illinois hospitals, Prairie Cardiovascular and HSHS Medical Group, according to a June 27 news release from the health system.

HSHS said the deal with Aetna will be finalized and there will be disruption in care.
