Aetna and Providence Oregon have reestablished their contract, according to a Dec. 4 post from the hospital network.
The multiyear agreement brings the hospitals back in network after nearly a year. The contract originally expired Dec. 31, 2024, OregonLive reported, and tensions mounted when Providence Oregon said it would stop accepting any out-of-network payments from Aetna members in the spring.
Providence Medford Medical Center and Providence South Physicians went back in network for Aetna commercial and Medicare Advantage plan members Nov. 15. As of Dec. 1, all remaining Providence facilities in the state are back in network for Aetna commercial plans.
“Providence will once again be a valued partner in our efforts to serve Aetna members in Oregon with access to high-quality, convenient care,” Cathy Hughes, vice president of network for Aetna’s western region, said.
