Aetna, Hackensack Meridian facing July 1 split

Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health and Aetna will be out of network on July 1 without a new contract in place.

Aetna Medicare Advantage members could lose coverage July 1 across Hackensack’s 18 hospitals, along with the system’s urgent care centers, outpatient clinics and 7,000 physicians.

Aetna members with self-insured plans will be out of network on Sept. 29. Members with fully insured plans, which include employer and ACA plans, will be out of network on Oct. 29.

“We are continuing our discussions with Hackensack Meridian Health with a goal of reaching an agreement that keeps them in our network,” a spokesperson for Aetna told Becker’s.
