Aetna has snagged a contract to manage healthcare benefits for more than 150,000 Pennsylvania state employees and their dependents.
The Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund selected Aetna to provide coverage to its employees and their dependents, and for around 11,000 non-Medicare eligible retired employees, according to an April 1 news release.
Aetna currently administers some plans for Pennsylvania employees, according to the news release. Highmark and Geisinger also manage some plans for the fund, according to its website. Current plans will continue through the end of 2025.
“We are honored to be the exclusive health care benefits carrier for the Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund,” Bill Deal, senior vice president, sales and client services for Aetna’s Keystone and Capitol markets, said in a statement shared with Becker’s.
“PEBTF members will have access to quality, affordable and convenient healthcare through our comprehensive network of primary care physicians, specialists and hospitals,” Mr. Deal added.
