The extended contract runs through Aug. 1, according to a July 18 Adventist news release. The contract would have expired at 12:01 a.m. July 18 without the extension.
The two sides have been at odds over a new contract. Advenist has said Anthem is one of its lowest-paying health plans. The health system said it provides a hospital network across California and needs rate increases that support overall expenses that continue to exceed the reimbursement it receives.
Anthem said it has offered Adventist reasonable increases that are in line with what other providers receive for the same services.
