9 payers snag Michigan Medicaid-Medicare contracts

Michigan has awarded nine health plans contracts to manage its Medicaid program for individuals dually-eligible for Medicare and Medicaid.

The new benefit plan, MI Coordinated Health, will launch in January 2026 in some counties, and expand statewide in 2027, according to an Oct. 9 news release from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. 

These nine insurers were awarded contracts: 

  • Upper Peninsula Health Plan 
  • Aetna Better Health of Michigan
  • Meridian Health Plan of Michigan (Centene) 
  • Molina Healthcare of Michigan 
  • UnitedHealthcare Community Plan 
  • HAP CareSource 
  • AmeriHealth Michigan 
  • Priority Health Choice 
  • Humana Medical Plan of Michigan
