The previous contract between Aetna and Covenant expired Aug. 31, leaving almost 9,000 individuals without in-network coverage.
Covenant, which is owned by Renton, Wash.-based Providence, operates seven hospitals in Texas and New Mexico.
Aetna members who received care at Covenant while no contract was in place will receive retroactive coverage and claims processing. The new contract also provides Aetna members with in-network access to Grace Clinic locations.
At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
