The survey was released Aug. 11 and responses were collected in August from 305 employers representing 4 million employees.
Four key takeaways:
- Currently, 35 percent of respondents offer abortion travel and hotel benefits, with another 16 percent beginning in 2023 and 21 percent considering it.
- Among those that already offer travel benefits, 44 percent have recently expanded the benefits and another 46 percent plan to or are considering enhancements.
- Among those that already offer travel benefits, 43 percent have a yearly limit and 22 percent plan to implement one.
- Among respondents with fully insured policies, 93 percent expect to offer coverage for elective abortions by next year in non-restrictive states. Among self-insured respondents, it is 82 percent.
