Adventist, Anthem agree on new contract

Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health and Anthem Blue Cross have reached a deal on a new contract, the Tehachapi News reported Aug. 12.

The two sides had been at odds over reimbursement rates. Adventist said Anthem was one of its lowest-paying health plans, and it needs rate increases that support expenses that continue to exceed the reimbursement it receives.

The previous contract between the payer and health system was set to expire July 18, but the sides extended it — most recently through Aug. 16 — as they ironed out a new deal.

The new contract is effective immediately, but no other details were disclosed in the report.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 17–19 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
