Quest Diagnostics said that patients who are not on Medicare, Medicaid or a private health plan will now be charged $125 for a QuestDirect PCR test, online or in-person. Quest has started to notify providers that they won’t be reimbursed for uninsured claims.
New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell’s GoHealth Urgent Care clinic sites will now charge between $120 and $195 for a PCR test, not including external lab fees.
Walgreens has made no decision yet and is awaiting further federal guidance.
Additional COVID-19 relief funding, including free COVID-19 testing without insurance, is stalled in Congress. Until then, providers must charge patients or absorb the cost of testing.
