Ohio county picks Humana over UnitedHealthcare for $62M contract

Officials in Butler County, Ohio, selected Humana for a $62.2 million contract to cover public employees, ousting UnitedHealthcare as the county’s former insurer.

The two companies pitched similar proposals to the county, but Humana’s offer to extend the two-year contract up to a third year with an increase capped at 5.9 percent swayed commissioners, according to the Journal-News

The deal allows the county to stay with Humana for up to three years, with the option to review offerings after one year.
