WVU Medicine plans to launch insurance services subsidiary in 2023

Morgantown-based West Virginia University Medicine is creating Peak Health, a health insurance services company, to serve its 30,000 employees.

Set to launch Jan. 1, 2023, Peak Health will initially serve WVU Medicine employees, but will eventually be built out to serve commercial and governmental customers, according to WVNews.

Peak Health will initially be helmed by Ben Gerber as president. 

The company will be propelled by $15 million in initial funding and seeks to hire 100 employees.
