AHIP made the announcement March 5. The group said its members, which include national commercial payers like Cigna and Anthem, will ease network, referral and prior authorization policies and possibly waive patient cost-sharing for the tests.

Cigna released its own statement on its coverage for COVID-19 testing and treatment. The insurer said it will waive copays and cost-sharing for the diagnostic tests.
