The announcement comes after BYU-Idaho was criticized for saying it would reject Medicaid as a form of insurance to fulfill the requirement. Insurance requirements are common among universities.
A report from The New York Times found students planned to drop out of school because of the decision, as they couldn’t afford private insurance.
BYU-Idaho apologized for the turmoil around the decision in a campus-wide email sent Nov. 25, a spokesperson confirmed with EastIdahoNews.com.
