If an agreement can’t be reached before June 14, the Dayton, Ohio-based health system and its Kettering Physician Network will go out of network with Cigna June 15. As a result, Cigna members would face higher, out-of-network prices when accessing Kettering Health hospitals and physicians.
In a statement to the Dayton Business Journal, Cigna spokesperson Jim Angstadt said Kettering is seeking high payment increases.
“Kettering Health Network wants our customers to pay more and have demanded rate increases that our analysis shows would further increase costs for our customers,” he said.
In a statement to Becker’s Hospital Review, a Kettering spokesperson said, “Kettering Health Network is in negotiations with Cigna and hopes to reach a resolution before the contract expires on June 14, 2019.”
