Here are three things to know about the layoffs.
1. The changes are part of BCBS of Michigan’s three-year plan, unveiled in 2015, to cut $300 million in costs by 2018.
2. Ms. Stojic told Becker’s, “This effort is in keeping with the company’s commitment to examine its business processes on a continuous basis to determine if they are as cost-effective, competitive, innovative and efficient as possible.”
3. The most recent layoffs represent 1 percent of BCBS of Michigan’s 7,600-plus employees. Crain’s Detroit Business, which has tracked layoffs related to BCBS of Michigan’s cost-cutting plan since January 2016, placed the total at 120.
