Five insurers lead the industry in public-facing Medicare plan shopping resources, according to an October report from Corporate Insight shared with Becker’s.
The report evaluated 18 insurers’ public websites across homepage and menu navigation, Medicare product overview pages, Medicare Advantage resources and the findability of quote and plan recommendation tools. Insurers were placed in four tiers: excellent, good, fair and poor.
Nearly 9 in 10 insurers promote an agent phone number on their Medicare shopping pages, but only 61% offer any other form of assisted shopping. Eleven of the 18 insurers offer at least one alternative, such as a plan recommendation tool, agent chat, call-request form or agent locator. Most insurers (83%) also embed a quote tool with a ZIP code field, but only a third pair it with a plan recommendation tool that helps potential enrollees narrow their options before committing to a quote.
