Georgetown University McCourt’s Center for Children and Families will kick off a one-year research study exploring the fallout of Medicaid work requirements and six-month redeterminations, according to an Oct. 23 news release.
Georgetown and research firm PerryUndem will connect with adult Medicaid enrollees in Arizona, California, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri and Pennsylvania on a monthly basis.
Many adults enrolled through Medicaid expansion, or through certain section 1115 waivers covering a similar population, will need to take part in some form of community engagement for at least 80 hours a month to retain Medicaid. The release said these HR 1 requirements, set to begin Jan. 1, will likely be complex and need more than a one-time survey to show the effects on Medicaid beneficiaries.
Enrollees will share their experiences, perceptions, renewal paperwork process, and Medicaid access and participation. Georgetown and PerryUndem will release findings periodically throughout the study.
At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
