Tom Curtin was named executive vice president of Kaiser Permanente’s National Health Plan after serving as its interim leader since May.
In the role, effective immediately, Mr. Curtin will lead health plan strategy and operations with a focus on growth, affordability and expanding access to the Oakland, Calif.-based system’s value-based care model, according to a Sept. 29 news release. He reports to Chair and CEO Greg Adams.
During his time as interim leader, Kaiser Permanente added more than 223,000 members in 2026, positioning the organization for its strongest membership growth since 2018, the release said.
“Tom combines a deep knowledge of our business with a steadfast commitment to Kaiser Permanente’s mission and our members,” Mr. Adams said in the release. “His leadership has helped strengthen our growth trajectory, improve affordability for our customers and members, and position Kaiser Permanente for continued long-term success.”
Mr. Curtin previously served as senior vice president and commercial chief growth officer, overseeing pricing, product, marketing and sales across the commercial business, according to the release. He has 22 years with Kaiser Permanente and chairs the board of its Georgia region.
Kaiser Permanente serves 12.9 million members across nine states and Washington, D.C.
