AmeriHealth Caritas has made a “strategic investment” in Deon Health, a Michigan-based managed care organization that serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Deon, founded in 2024, operates what it calls a “community supported care model” that combines clinical, behavioral and home and community-based services around individual patients. The company partners with local providers rather than building its own delivery infrastructure, according to an Aug. 21 news release.

Financial terms were not disclosed, and Deon will remain independent, the companies said.

AmeriHealth Caritas is jointly owned by Independence Health Group and BCBS Michigan. The insurer operates Medicaid, Medicare and marketplace plans across 13 states and the District of Columbia.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
