Under the potential deal, which resulted from a mediation process, Empire BlueCross BlueShield policyholders would gain in-network access to inpatient services at HealthAlliance’s two Kingston hospitals.
Details of the multiyear deal will be determined during the next two weeks, the report states.
A previous contract between HealthAlliance and Empire expired May 31, 2016, after unsuccessful negotiations. Empire maintained in-network coverage for patients receiving emergency care at HealthAlliance’s Kingston hospitals throughout the dispute.
