Optum is laying off 92 employees in California, with the majority of cuts tied to the closure of a management services organization in Oxnard.
The Oxnard MSO accounts for 80 of the 92 affected positions, the company said in regulatory documents filed June 1. The other affected positions are spread across clinic locations in Los Angeles, Torrance, Arcadia and Covina, which will remain open to patients.
“As part of our commitment to making care more affordable, we regularly review services and staffing to meet patient needs and changing market dynamics,” an Optum spokesperson told Becker’s. “Our priority is ensuring patients continue receiving care with minimal disruption, and teams are working to coordinate appointments, transfer records, and support transition of care for ongoing treatment, including medication access. We are supporting affected team members with job placement resources and will redeploy our talent to suitable open roles within the company. “
Optum employs more than 16,000 people in California.
