Anthem to exit Nevada’s ACA exchange in most counties

Indianapolis-based Anthem is continuing its ACA exchange withdrawal and leaving the market in all but three Nevada counties in 2018, Bloomberg reports.

The payer’s decision will leave roughly 8,000 residents across 13 counties and Carson City without access to an ACA exchange plan or the subsidies often tied to the plans next year. Republican Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval said Wednesday the situation was a crisis, the report states.

Anthem has cited uncertainty surrounding the ACA, resulting in difficulty estimating 2018 plan options and premiums, as reason for its exchange retreats. The insurer has also pulled out of ACA exchanges in Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin for 2018.
