The IRS raised health savings account limits for 2027, with the self-only and family contribution limits rising to $4,500 and $9,000, respectively.
For this year’s high-deductible health plan holders, the self-only limit is $4,400, and the family limit is $8,750.
Looking ahead to 2027, the minimum deductible for high-deductible health plans is $1,750 for self-only coverage and $3,500 for family coverage, versus $1,700 and $3,400, respectively, for this year. Out-of-pocket maximums will be $8,700 and $17,400 next year, up from $8,500 and $17,000, respectively.
The cap for excepted benefit health reimbursement arrangements, a form of employer reimbursement for copays and deductibles, is increasing from $2,200 in 2026 to $2,250 for plan years beginning in 2027.
