Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield cut about 30 positions recently, according to a May 18 statement shared with Becker’s.
The “realigned staffing” spanned “a couple of areas within the company,” the spokesperson said. The cuts resulted from budget allocations, not the insurer’s pending strategic affiliation with Cambia Health Solutions.
“Arkansas Blue Cross takes seriously the need to provide employment opportunities and balance the budget to help hold the line on costs for members,” the spokesperson said.
The nonprofit insurer posted $4.8 million in net income in 2025, up from a $226.2 million net loss in 2024. Following losses, the company laid off 75 people, 2% of its workforce at the time.
In December 2025, Arkansas BCBS said it was offering “an early-out option to eligible employees” due to budget constraints. The company’s website now says, across affiliated companies, there are more than 3,200 employees, but Arkansas BCBS did not confirm an updated headcount to Becker’s.
