Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Valley Health Network is no longer in network for UnitedHealthcare employer-sponsored commercial members, as of April 26, according to both organizations.
The update does not impact access to broader Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health facilities and physicians, the insurer said. UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare Advantage members lost LVHN access in January.
LVHN said negotiations had transpired for more than two years and it “is prepared to resume discussions with UnitedHealthcare at any time to reach a fair and sustainable agreement that keeps patients connected to their care.”
UnitedHealthcare said LVHN requested more than a 20% price hike in one year.
Veterans in the UnitedHealthcare VA Community Care Network, as well as those in UnitedHealthcare’s Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, may continue receiving care at LVHN, both organizations said.
“While we remain committed to continued discussions, our primary focus at this time is providing people access to the care they need through either continuity of care or a smooth transition to another provider, as appropriate,” UnitedHealthcare said in a May 13 statement shared with Becker’s.
