CJ Bhalla has been named CFO of Blue Shield of California and its parent company, Ascendiun.
Ms. Bhalla begins her role on May 18, succeeding interim CFO Kassie Maroney, who will remain the company’s chief actuary, according to an April 22 Blue Shield news release.
She joins Blue Shield from Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente, where she has spent 20 years in various finance leadership roles, according to the release. She most recently served as senior vice president and CFO of integrated care and coverage. As part of that role, she oversaw finance for Kaiser Permanente’s California, Hawaii, Northwest, and Washington markets.
Ms. Bhalla’s hire comes just two days after Blue Shield announced the hiring of another former Kaiser Permanente executive. On April 20, the company named Hayley Park, PharmD, senior vice president and chief pharmacy officer. Dr. Park most recently served as vice president of pharmacy operations and services for Kaiser Permanente Northern California.
