CenterWell — Humana’s healthcare services branch for older adults — introduced its fulfillment index, a measure to evaluate well-being as individuals age, according to an April 20 news release.
CenterWell fulfillment index study data determined 54% of adults over age 62 years said they feel fulfilled. However, fulfillment can dip in early retirement years, roughly around ages 65 to 69 years old.
The tool is based on 72 indicators, addressing areas traditional medical measures may not gauge. CenterWell plans to leverage the data to inform coordinated, patient-centered experiences, especially across primary care, home health and pharmacy. CenterWell plans to deploy this measurement as routinely as blood pressure assessments, the release said.
“As we help people live longer, we must focus just as much on helping them live well,” CenterWell President Sanjay Shetty, MD, said. “The CenterWell fulfillment index gives us a clearer way to measure what older adults say matters, so care teams can identify where additional support may be needed and tailor care around what patients value most.”
