Oscar Health launched Lucie Health Marketplace April 20, a storefront for individual plans.
Lucie will serve as a one-stop-shop for major individual carriers, along with supplemental and ancillary products, according to an April 20 news release. Offerings include medical, dental, vision, accident and hospital care coverage.
Employers can set their own budget and fund tax-free employee shopping. Networks span most ZIP codes, and Lucie can quote, enroll and renew products instantly. The release claims brokers could register clients within minutes.
“Employer healthcare looks good on paper but fails the moment medical bills hit,” Oscar CEO Mark Bertolini said in the release. “Lucie is the first step to fixing that. Instead of being forced into a few rigid employer plans, you build your own custom bundle of affordable products for better financial protection.”
President of Oscar Insurance Janet Liang previously told Becker’s the team is “building the marketplace of the future.”
“Consumers are driving what success looks like in healthcare. The shift from one-size-fits-all plans to plans designed around the consumer’s individual needs continues to accelerate,” she said. “As the individual market grows over the next five years, we will see more consumer choice and more innovative plans with hyper-personalized products and curated networks that reflect the diverse needs of the populations in our communities.”
