Four hospitals under Grand Rapids and Southfield, Mich.-based Corewell Health are no longer in UnitedHealthcare’s network, according to a Dec. 31 update from the insurer.

As of Jan. 1, UnitedHealthcare does not cover the Dearborn, Taylor, Trenton and Wayne hospitals for its employer-sponsored commercial plan and individual family plan members. Corewell’s other hospitals remain in network, as well as the system’s physicians. However, other Corewell facilities and providers are slated to go out of network throughout the year, beginning in May.

Some members are eligible for continuity of care, including patients who are pregnant or undergoing cancer treatment.

“We are actively talking with UHC, and we are committed to finding the best solution for our patients,” a Corewell spokesperson told Becker’s. UnitedHealthcare also confirmed the ongoing negotiations.
