Arkansas BCBS names executive VP, primary care manager: 5 things to know

Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Little Rock promoted Steve Spaulding to executive vice president and chief health management officer. The insurer also named Missy Davis as primary care manager, according to an Arkansas Business report.

Here are five things to know about the changes in leadership.  

1. In his new role, Mr. Spaulding will oversee the insurer’s alternative payment and primary care operations, commercial pharmacy, enterprise business intelligence, provider compensation and provider network operations, according to the report. 

2. Mr. Spaulding has worked with Arkansas BCBS since 1983 as a group marketing representative. He was regional executive of the insurer’s Hot Springs, Ark., office from 1995 to 2002, and was named vice president of internal operations in 2003. He also served as senior vice president of enterprise networks at Arkansas BCBS from 2009 to 2017. 

3. Mr. Spaulding earned his bachelor’s degree from Alma (Mich.) College.

4. Arkansas BCBS also promoted Missy Davis to primary care manager. She previously worked as the payer’s Medicare pharmacy manager. 

5. Ms. Davis will manage the administrative operations of all primary care medical homes and comprehensive primary care, according to the report. She will also work with providers, employers, vendors, CMS and other market payers.
