Independence Blue Cross is partnering with Chubb to offer supplemental gap insurance to large employer group members that select high-deductible health plans.

The Chubb GAP plan will reimburse employees up to $10,000 per individual or $20,000 per family annually for out-of-pocket costs, including deductibles, copays and coinsurance, according to a Dec. 1 news release.

Reimbursements count toward members’ deductible and out-of-pocket maximum.

The supplemental plan covers expenses from inpatient hospitalization, including treatment for mental illness and substance use disorder. Outpatient coverage includes emergency room visits, outpatient surgery and diagnostic testing for lab work, X-rays and MRIs.

An optional add-on covers ambulance services, durable medical equipment such as hospital beds and wheelchairs, and therapy or rehabilitation benefits.
