In early October, the health system revealed its plans to sever ties with UnitedHealthcare over the payer’s “failure to accurately and fairly reimburse” member services as agreed upon in its provider participation agreement.
Mississippi Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney said Thursday UnitedHealthcare agreed to reimburse NMMC at in-network rates. The health system said it will accept the payer’s payments in full and avoid balance billing, according to the report.
The agreement is effective until May 31 while UnitedHealthcare and NMMC continue negotiations.
