WellStar, BCBS team up for federal exchange plan

Marietta, Ga.-based WellStar Health System and Atlanta-based Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia will collaborate on a federal insurance exchange product, The Marietta Daily Journal reports.

The agreement is effective Jan. 1. All 11 WellStar hospitals and WellStar Medical Group providers will participate in the joint BCBS of Georgia exchange product. The product includes bronze, silver and gold level products. 

“This news gives patients the ability to keep their WellStar physicians and providers,” Barbara Corey, senior vice president of managed care for WellStar, said in a statement to The Marietta Daily Journal. “As a not-for-profit, WellStar is focused on improving the health of our patients and community.”
