Monongalia County, West Virginia is dropping group coverage from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield in favor of Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements administered by Take Command, local outlet WAJR reported Oct. 20.
Premiums will continue to be almost entirely covered by the county for its 265 employees, who will have access to more than 30 different plans from three carriers on the ACA marketplace for 2026 coverage.
“Of the savings that we are seeing in premiums, the county would recognize a 3% savings on what we are currently paying,” Commissioner Sean Sikora told the news outlet.
At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
