Ascension Wisconsin is back in network with UnitedHealthcare, according to an Oct. 14 UHC news release.

“We have reached a multi-year agreement that restores network access to Ascension Wisconsin for people enrolled in UnitedHealthcare commercial, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans, effective immediately,” said UnitedHealthcare Wisconsin CEO Dustin Hinton. “Our top priority throughout the negotiation was to reach an agreement that was affordable for consumers and employers, and this agreement helps accomplish that goal.”

Initial negotiations had failed to produce a suitable contract for both parties and the affected Ascension Wisconsin locations were briefly out of network.

The new contract is also retroactive to Oct. 1, when the initial agreement expired.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
